Accounting Manager

Job Description

SUMMARY
This position performs various accounting and administrative functions. The Accountant I reports to the CEO. The position’s most important responsibility is client billing which requires the ability to read, understand and apply complex contract billing provisions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate client invoices and enter client invoices into QuickBooks.
  • Post payments and make bank deposits.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable and when necessary, contact clients regarding payment.
  • Process Accounts Payable for payment and is ultimately responsible for accurate and timely processing of Accounts Payable.
  • Process Payroll and is ultimately responsible for accurate and timely processing of Payroll.
  • Knowledge and submission of Federal and Unemployment taxes.
  • Generate financial statements.
  • Understand cash flow.
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding invoicing.
  • Review internal case-tracking program to assure complete client billing.
  • Thorough understanding of contract billing provisions and is ultimately responsible for accurate and timely client billing.
  • Assure billing and payment of annual and other periodic contract payments.
  • Verify accuracy of client invoices and vendor payments.
  • Maintain new case list and contract files.
  • Monitor and prepare GSA and other client periodic reporting.
  • Demonstrate the highest degree of ethical conduct and unyielding work ethic.
  • Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Perform any other task, project, or assignment as assigned.
  • Assists in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded.
  • Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
  • Compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
  • Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Expert proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and QuickBooks.
  • Superior organization and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to correspond with a variety of client representatives.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential matters with discretion and work independently and on own initiative.
  • Candidate will be required to undergo a Department of Homeland Security background investigation.
  • CPA is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred, however extensive relevant experience may be considered. Vetting by Homeland Security is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment, but may require additional hours to meet performance standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $60,000+ based on experience
